Description:
The Business Analyst/Product Owner will report to the Engineering Manager in South Africa and is responsible for understanding business needs, gathering requirements and translating them into actionable product features and enhancements.
This position acts as a liaison between the business stakeholders, development teams and other relevant teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products that meet customer expectations in line with the company’s vision.
The Business Analyst/Product Owner must be resourceful, have strong personal motivational skills, be a relationship builder with excellent communications skills, incorporate an involved approach with the determination to succeed and have the aptitude to react quickly to given situations. The capacity to interact at all levels with the willingness to be flexible is essential to success in this role.
The Product Owner/Business Analyst must have an approachable and open nature to ensure ‘buy-in’ to the function is consistent across the Company, while aligning with our pillars.
In general, the Business Analyst/Product Owner should be of smart, presentable appearance and must feel comfortable working in an ever-changing and customer driven environment.
The Business Analyst/Product Owner will be an ambassador of our core pillars, both individually and collectively, should be highly committed and be able to seek continual improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Requirements gathering. Collate with the business stakeholders to identify and document business needs, objectives, and requirements. Conduct interviews, workshops and surveys to gather comprehensive and accurate requirements.
- Working closely with the Engineering team to shape and define the system requirements and then manages the documentation and traceability of the requirements to ensure that the solution being delivered will satisfy the business needs of the customer,
- Manage project scope and the change management process,
- Provides functional expertise support to other internal stakeholders,
- Participate in testing activities to ensure that requirements are met and guide the customer through customer acceptance testing,
- Ensure the delivered systems are aligned with the KUBA product and service strategy,
- Provide Pre sales and tender support,
- Refines and assists in obtaining approval for proposed solutions through collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Become one the custodians for the RSA solution ,
- Perform quality assurance,
- Define reporting and alerting requirements,
- Own and develop relationship with partners, working with them to optimise and enhance our integration,
- Design, document and maintain system processes,
- Communicate key insights and findings to product team,
- Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to the customer.
Product Features Definition:
- Participation in the technology feed of the Product Backlog.
- Understand the product's requirements to meet Customer Requirements
- Analysis and solution design for new features, feature enhancement, legal and standard compliance, product improvement etc..
- Support the quotation process of the workload with the Engineering team by ensuring that the team understands the requirements that the Product Owner/Business Analyst created
Product Features Delivery:
- Designs new components through analysis, Epic and User Stories writing.
- Provide WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) document to display user story prioritisation (when requested)
- Support the Customer Technical Support Manager in the sprint planning preparation.
- Organises the Specification Review with the Engineering team.
- Performs PO check to confirm the functional compliance of the development.
- Provides support during the development and test phases.
Product Features Maintenance:
- Provides support to customer service and engineering to fix functional issues on existing deployed product features.
- Performs analysis of change requests coming from internal or external stakeholders.
- Pre sales and tender support
Involved in the process of establishing the gap analysis matrix:
- Provides a first answer regarding Product evolution possibilities and change requests
- Designs and participates in quotations of new features to be included within the product.
- Provides functional expertise support to other internal stakeholders.
Product Documentation:
- Documents features through functional specifications and maintain the Product definition repository.
- Answer questions regarding Product functions, and update documentation accordingly.
- Conducts internal communication about new release content i.e. release notes
Training:
- Delivers training on product features to internal stakeholders
- Provides coaching on product features and processes to newcomers in the product team.
- Provide support in keeping training materials up to date.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role within a Software Development environment.
- At least 5 years of Product Owner experience within a Software development environment.
- Strong functional documentation writing skills
- Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
- Team spirit and good communication abilities
- Good organizational skills
- Familiarity with knowledge of software development and technologies used
- Experience within the transport ticketing industry is desirable (but not essential)
- Experience within an agile team
- Understanding of the functional requirements for an AFC (Automated Fare Collection) system is desirable (but not essential)
- Previous Jira experience is desirable (but not essential)
- Requirements management tool knowledge is desirable (but not essential)
- Good understand of Microsoft Office, Google documents and Google Sheets
- Basic knowledge of the French language is an added advantage
